Happy 100th to Scotts Bluff National Monument! - :
Challenge Project 2018-2019
Each year a challenge is given to members, with criteria chosen by a committee. The project is optional, and when completed, it can be entered in the Panhandle Quilt Guild Show that year in the Challenge category.

2019 will be the Centennial Year for Scotts Bluff National Monument. Because quilts played a culturally significant role in the establishment of the pioneers in Nebraska and the West we want to incorporate the Centennial and the "pioneer quilt" theme into the Oregon Trail Days Quilt Show in July.

Suggestions include wagon trains, the Platte River, the view of the monument from below and from above, Park Rangers, anything historical or historical things inside the Museum.

  • Each entry will be given an envelope with the name of a quilt block associated with the Oregon Trail or Pioneer quilts. This block must appear at least once in the quilt, can be any size and be noticeable.
  • Must include '100' somewhere in the quilt. ie: 100 pieces, or the number 100 embellished, quilted, embroidered, etc.
  • The quilt must be no larger than 200 inches total of all sides.
  • On the quilt show entry form, include details of your block, the name of the block from your envelope, how you chose your quilt design, how you incorporated the 100, etc.
